The smoke filled sky was from the fires in the mountains in a distance of about 20 miles last fall. I thought it was a great photo opp.<br />

This quilt was a project I loved doing for my daughter. She bought the fabric and pattern as a gift for me and I loved the challenge. I earned a 1st place award at the Falling Leaves Quilt Show in October that Ladies of the Lake Quilt Guild presents to our community every year. I then gifted it to my daughter!!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmPljkbb-5DB0k0F-tL_qBkXE67bvII0CZyPyZlIr5KZTgJzFICpadXHsqxWpyynh-LWtXxmNFcEIzzjAdGGsGtKs-T3iHDt33NtTkmlWUbJrFm3HT-AxoR1kFt3h3dEcrH-iK/s1600/100_3349.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" eea="true" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmPljkbb-5DB0k0F-tL_qBkXE67bvII0CZyPyZlIr5KZTgJzFICpadXHsqxWpyynh-LWtXxmNFcEIzzjAdGGsGtKs-T3iHDt33NtTkmlWUbJrFm3HT-AxoR1kFt3h3dEcrH-iK/s320/100_3349.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

In October a visit to our Granddaughter who attends Bosie State University in Bosie, Idaho. My daughter and I had a "girl trip" and it was fun. This is the view of the town from a "lookout" above. The scene was spectacular. The clouds were just stunningly beautiful. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidun_RXm_kDhEb5yTxCed0nBWjoDEwXEVr7L3OdYvpd1OM878MjFll8WHfnLh6GRKRxmUE3OHH6dur0DDzyrGHOUoJ3XgsTGy-Da7XDsU_9BevtIh6Zj3XkyIPhv_6EKSJGeIC/s1600/100_3373.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" eea="true" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidun_RXm_kDhEb5yTxCed0nBWjoDEwXEVr7L3OdYvpd1OM878MjFll8WHfnLh6GRKRxmUE3OHH6dur0DDzyrGHOUoJ3XgsTGy-Da7XDsU_9BevtIh6Zj3XkyIPhv_6EKSJGeIC/s320/100_3373.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

According to the seed package it could reach 300 pounds!! So...I decided to challenge that! I think it actually got to 50 or 60 pounds!! It took a very strong couple of guys to load it on the tractor's forklift and bring it in for me to display in the barrel!! What fun I am going to have next year. I harvested the seeds and will see if I can reproduce this into an other giant. Gotta get the 300 pounder!! Life has challenges!</div>

In a previous blog I showed you the original. It didn't fit the maple 4 poster as I wanted . So, I asked my pro-long arm quilter,Marian Drain(Cuddle Time Quilts) if it was possible to add to three sides; she said "YES"! I had enough extra fabric to make the additional lenghts on 3 sides! I proceeded to carefully remove the binding and give the quilt to her and she performed her talented magic!!! I added more binding to the already made binding and attached it !!! As you can see it fits perfectly and I also had enough fabric to make a pair of matching pillow cases. Sorry that I didn't include them on the bed for the photo!!! I bought this double maple 4 poster 52 years ago at a local maple furniture store that closed long ago. I wish I had bought a canopy then, but just getting the bed was a delight at the time!!!<br />

I have never bought a "kit" to make. However,this just called to me. I thought kits would be "easy". Well, I thought all the parts would be cut out already! Not so. There was a cut of fabric that I had to cut the colorful "petals" from and the pattern was included for that and the other shapes. The black bias binding outlining the shapes was included. As you can see I haven't sewn the binding on yet. It is black also. It reminds me of a window in a cathedral. Haven't decided where it will hang yet!Fabricfairehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12901857953188043217noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31657651.post-82404895942711871382012-03-25T12:33:00.000-07:002012-03-25T12:33:48.337-07:00Pitcher and Bowl<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjA5UT_cTtuQJM_e1-MWzdZm-0sqEve_fnnzp_1eb5Lf-Gykk_Myi0FJZi7fPNMFhaYIkBzj0S9nkzhoZ6aRJdrr0bPchpEbmOg11XPmL0OQ7aweJn2_5i3Z7hcsyQua9u2IvU0/s1600/100_3187.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img aea="true" border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjA5UT_cTtuQJM_e1-MWzdZm-0sqEve_fnnzp_1eb5Lf-Gykk_Myi0FJZi7fPNMFhaYIkBzj0S9nkzhoZ6aRJdrr0bPchpEbmOg11XPmL0OQ7aweJn2_5i3Z7hcsyQua9u2IvU0/s320/100_3187.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<br />
<div>I can't believe I can actual get some photos loaded up on my blog. We had the computer repaired and it works different than before with the photos! Some towns in our area are banning plastic bags in stores, ours has not,however, I do go to other areas to shop. I am prepared!!! I won't say which ones are for gifts also!!!!!</div>Tip: Click on the photo and a window will open w/them and you can enlarge each one to get a better look !!!<br />
These totes were so fun and easy to assemble!! <br />
<br />
<div>It only takes 1 yard of fabric and one seam,then turned right side out and add the handle! (The inside looks just like the outside! But, if you have directional fabric it gets tricky to get the right look on the outside!) I also put Velcro all the way across on the inside below the handle on the "Saddle Up" and "Pears Galore", (in memory of our 25 years of growing Bartlett Pears). I was introduced to this "easypeasy" pattern at a small quilt guild that I belong to. The yellow one is made of "laminated cotton". A new product to try. (It is pricey!) It is similar to "oil cloth" but it is soft and not made with oil products! It comes in 54"wide width and it is carried by our local fabric store,it is on a roll.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0YA17LdGcQwAU0wFpheeGBbmQfhhvjtd5K9bt1HPoAiKlii0fC9d45E79JElL4w93CmtIplaI9WV4BJMdVnGp5NHL5wiEoYRRkrc31b1MDiLrwzhDnFI8JGoZ5rq5RLamqbS8/s1600/100_3184.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5722072589621330866" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0YA17LdGcQwAU0wFpheeGBbmQfhhvjtd5K9bt1HPoAiKlii0fC9d45E79JElL4w93CmtIplaI9WV4BJMdVnGp5NHL5wiEoYRRkrc31b1MDiLrwzhDnFI8JGoZ5rq5RLamqbS8/s320/100_3184.JPG" style="cursor: hand; float: right; height: 240px; margin: 0px 0px 10px 10px; width: 320px;" /></a> It is larger than the others because of the width. (The others are of the normal 42" width fabric!)<br />
<br />
The second tote I call "Sew & Sew" as you can see by the theme.</div><br />

<div>The yellow one is the laminated fabric. I call Mellow Yellow!!!! <br />

I thought I'd include a "not so fun" event. As you can see in the photos a "vet tech" is removing stitches from our Jack Russell Terrior. This 8 year old, 13 pound dog thinks she is a guard around here. When one morning two coyotes came up close to the house and we were in the yard and the dog smelled and saw them before we saw them and took out chasing them! They saw what looked like "lunch" to them and turned around and chased her and she ran as fast as she could but the one coyote caught her and caused her to have 11 stitches (she was very lucky to get away from them)as you can see the stitches being removed after about 10 days. The next day the coyotes made the mistake of coming around again!!! As you can see it ending up"sleeping" in our grassy field. If you are a coyote fan, don't worry we still have many more that visit on a regular basis!!! And of course our dog will still tell them to stay away!! She is tough!!</div></div></div></div>Fabricfairehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12901857953188043217noreply@blogger.com18tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31657651.post-26327393270183270732011-03-05T10:09:00.000-08:002011-03-12T19:34:02.715-08:00"Bobby"<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMleBdQ8OJ5DB7LZuhNDcTQ5QH4hP-LJ7Ndzx_eDFBJ_yMCZL3fFTCj8CM1VJ9xdrgELmLTjAuxdETPJmMkVq6MNx784HckfoQKvQiUPUojkDQEblruJmstzNhzCUjv-xJhvaN/s1600/100_2354.JPG"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; FLOAT: right; HEIGHT: 221px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5583401815134578690" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMleBdQ8OJ5DB7LZuhNDcTQ5QH4hP-LJ7Ndzx_eDFBJ_yMCZL3fFTCj8CM1VJ9xdrgELmLTjAuxdETPJmMkVq6MNx784HckfoQKvQiUPUojkDQEblruJmstzNhzCUjv-xJhvaN/s320/100_2354.JPG" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiORB59xe66u2Odz84r1i0fY4VC-TJ6Tmo3R85AE2WjQg3WasuZCHnH14os8r3Ip7kQ8gzuM7yhXfq0zEiOWrz0gPfeX5ONwzk8r3kARIROuSP7lU2N7CFMK4Sw47U-8ZqXHT3y/s1600/100_2353.JPG"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; FLOAT: right; HEIGHT: 198px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5583401589033426882" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiORB59xe66u2Odz84r1i0fY4VC-TJ6Tmo3R85AE2WjQg3WasuZCHnH14os8r3Ip7kQ8gzuM7yhXfq0zEiOWrz0gPfeX5ONwzk8r3kARIROuSP7lU2N7CFMK4Sw47U-8ZqXHT3y/s320/100_2353.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_fCMXbaE9C-r_Ql4bV4mzNi-ALn_xJwQDMRwytoeVlUV0blZPpmOPcFVjykhI87plOHXS0LSLxqjBM4KkAtAlfPmyNbA6UkyGrsbBCSZlLKYDDJvTpHG7qYPOgTylUBsbL2EX/s1600/100_2325.JPG"></a><br /><br /><br /><div align="justify"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD91vZefugnoFNeA9eaPPqC65dkj_3fiFmAuQr-yTqqItViOR_6UdcISt6sxeso7Z7FVjsqaaSdXYpghIfxKorSBZfUsVZPsz3-zL8D-XRjGh6XHUtskP0guRHBMj73OhnAX_O/s1600/100_2349.JPG"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; FLOAT: right; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5580661534757363474" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD91vZefugnoFNeA9eaPPqC65dkj_3fiFmAuQr-yTqqItViOR_6UdcISt6sxeso7Z7FVjsqaaSdXYpghIfxKorSBZfUsVZPsz3-zL8D-XRjGh6XHUtskP0guRHBMj73OhnAX_O/s320/100_2349.JPG" /></a><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjo07Yx6GMHGNuzuLdGUVU0z7Ifa9HHfkufPCiFcyiJBPVFyViAvMYyVVzqVdS5g5vyoKR83deweZgVJgksPt-XZiAW7oCushhHy-NynpypH7cxvTkyFK5BbpGoBw0UZnY_JgpK/s1600/100_2334.JPG"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; FLOAT: right; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5580661112949020018" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjo07Yx6GMHGNuzuLdGUVU0z7Ifa9HHfkufPCiFcyiJBPVFyViAvMYyVVzqVdS5g5vyoKR83deweZgVJgksPt-XZiAW7oCushhHy-NynpypH7cxvTkyFK5BbpGoBw0UZnY_JgpK/s320/100_2334.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaV3NfVE2Xk8x01zH-MdAZeWdDUMkwvPBhJ5z9HlvFvHn9YtCVc39lv8qCs8sgOHBsVbJF6zyJvVJ18Aib2iCiHj_Urxr4pmTPsqeU-fkUjAp6lcUeEKpvtgNCOy0OGCz473W1/s1600/100_2347.JPG"></a><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4hQV1LIUqLbCk0xV7dZr9i8WMeALPkusbZbYakXBPAWmjxZFI1PLU7olt_sX4RtDD1qZ0pP2HrYfv0aHmtXk_EXAJwU6oWi-3xPjWPxnp3zfisGuheW2AXsaw_UWSPp0a7K5w/s1600/100_2345.JPG"></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhehS-w_gAqvUwF_vLsZYtizNwL7B8gOeCwaHW0bnwyblBS-vneOtECwkqn6Rrm4wkeZvWl6U-g_LrODajHaIBcFO5ZgU9H3dpL73AgQLGwzIsI4SjJWgrOQe-e8IsxKakibB9k/s1600/100_2349.JPG"></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://www.easycounter.com/"></a><br /><url place="KUKI&type=F&trooper=1">This is our bobcat "tenant" that lives on our place, as we have lots of good brushy and trees to hide in for him ! I was so encouraged by the pattern as it enabled me to use scraps!!!! So, I reached into my stash and decided a flannel baby crib quilt would be fun to create!! I sent for the pattern and template. Here is my version. I <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiwhsxnc1iS24cXp5x-8PG2hB-5zTFxpopyw64IQOhczojQw3ZQ2Lw-74CNjuuJIRgaNvLej3RpmzQpvPgN2gMMCjt2c8Uk-amWBhwhOQ15ceV09micI7goAXpaJqzUGeXwozh/s1600/100_3015.JPG"></a>ran out of the backing scraps and sub another fabric in two squares. I also only did 5 rows for the same reason!!! You will see the pattern stops! As you see in the photo on the top right,this is the block all trimmed. The strips are <span style="color:#ffff00;">placed </span>on top of a batting square and the backing all at once!!! Then they are all connected! I did find that using all flannel made folding the edges onto the square a little too bulky, I did trim some of the connecting seams. Always learning by doing!! It was fast and the easiest pattern I have done. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMfjbYATW9iOpKz_svelOLgOjY_X4vVhdLMOQbaLBmybyvsZQC1cK6eU4zDvnUtQVgVvaleEQW0FUkgkv2nvJMQszsKQ15wLsVeWvTn_sIrmyOeieRF4uZAUE2FolHcZFJO9dI/s1600/100_3015.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5489740350833556610" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMfjbYATW9iOpKz_svelOLgOjY_X4vVhdLMOQbaLBmybyvsZQC1cK6eU4zDvnUtQVgVvaleEQW0FUkgkv2nvJMQszsKQ15wLsVeWvTn_sIrmyOeieRF4uZAUE2FolHcZFJO9dI/s320/100_3015.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKZC1y2Jvhj7UFDdHaAv_nEBaipQAKshjf85ntnyV8cShUOX1ed-aCWxHOG__xiU8GfIiLD97Tde5YtbvQ0TIzCKgRJfvIiixtWjw_a137LsPbAZgltmi9gM4pG8ukDUWaOvgJ/s1600/100_3019.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5489732005093863698" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKZC1y2Jvhj7UFDdHaAv_nEBaipQAKshjf85ntnyV8cShUOX1ed-aCWxHOG__xiU8GfIiLD97Tde5YtbvQ0TIzCKgRJfvIiixtWjw_a137LsPbAZgltmi9gM4pG8ukDUWaOvgJ/s320/100_3019.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGdrP0DIcM7j1UNrKvSb3C9H11izvQxh0QgtWwwxuVTXp0UbSxf3TJKLNEWS7tk0usaS7C56XjN1aNjdob5lYgUL4fxpWi5QvWlXFCzJ-23sTMBgmbT44zyuYpbj_dBFFxQRwP/s1600/100_3023.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5489732017267608034" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGdrP0DIcM7j1UNrKvSb3C9H11izvQxh0QgtWwwxuVTXp0UbSxf3TJKLNEWS7tk0usaS7C56XjN1aNjdob5lYgUL4fxpWi5QvWlXFCzJ-23sTMBgmbT44zyuYpbj_dBFFxQRwP/s320/100_3023.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN2_5HaTdTo-DhB1KsQ93_4p40ymAYBtiC7Wi2WxviMDFmoJf-91iwCgSAUqTHMgGsHtdqm213icfe38kp71Us4aLmYp54Xttj5-DFJgLRBAKpUar3d3RlsnHNuPqKjtLSm6nU/s1600/100_3022.JPG"></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikydmOIBaudP7K_gliw2eXTwiBmrz-CSUjhLQycDn-TVmFxhafo9Vqa5H8M2YfGm5_3fi581h-mzjZfgxFX8gGMjxx1qWFiBEY0qPi6GZ_wv6bDPUmYEUM6yykkQbDt7wGLBt5/s1600/100_3025.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5489740361015889586" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikydmOIBaudP7K_gliw2eXTwiBmrz-CSUjhLQycDn-TVmFxhafo9Vqa5H8M2YfGm5_3fi581h-mzjZfgxFX8gGMjxx1qWFiBEY0qPi6GZ_wv6bDPUmYEUM6yykkQbDt7wGLBt5/s320/100_3025.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAHRY-FR8PyiavZEyC2_waOF_NoKXAeApwENCSk35FIRixeVq4eiX54ZlBtp0NE8-IxfKQzANH9Cg5TiMhrvHAODJT1zHkUaglFp75-6imKjXpFdzr746wUsJZiEO6r_rkyrGy/s1600/100_3015.JPG"></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div>. </div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>Fabricfairehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12901857953188043217noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31657651.post-83316631061853942992010-06-25T08:10:00.000-07:002010-06-25T09:39:12.116-07:00Cherrie Challenge<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCmrm7RL_ULsQKdWNwsBvoJEfyJNV_l_mTS-zsQEe3Y77vYogJvwtgPbGLmHNKjFOxy7LETjSC7tw0RlvpU3-h0kjbnIYcbniPXVVK39jI3Aa6woFQ2uvwy5sBb_1XxP8_V5ic/s1600/100_2993.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5486747439302509202" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCmrm7RL_ULsQKdWNwsBvoJEfyJNV_l_mTS-zsQEe3Y77vYogJvwtgPbGLmHNKjFOxy7LETjSC7tw0RlvpU3-h0kjbnIYcbniPXVVK39jI3Aa6woFQ2uvwy5sBb_1XxP8_V5ic/s320/100_2993.JPG" border="0" /></a> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLQ-45K1AOxsdwZ46lkWtH8Z90oPAzOV8kj3T_WQZT1lRV4K4H94DrJRmKPUuk1KnOrW-9eNGZi5mhs8-Y-5_0wJwWBDmxoDA7mWqxcH1imFCiaFDEKRUeJ98gfZ6envmpM-Xh/s1600/100_2989.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5486732193104945074" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLQ-45K1AOxsdwZ46lkWtH8Z90oPAzOV8kj3T_WQZT1lRV4K4H94DrJRmKPUuk1KnOrW-9eNGZi5mhs8-Y-5_0wJwWBDmxoDA7mWqxcH1imFCiaFDEKRUeJ98gfZ6envmpM-Xh/s320/100_2989.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><div><br /></div><div> </div><div> </div><div>I wanted to share the "fun" of growing our cherries! This is not the easiest fruit to grow in our region. But....we have been blessed w/a greaat crop! We have 3 trees and 2 are the same variety. The other is a later pick. Of a couple weeks. The birds of all kinds looove cherrys so...this is where the real challenge comes in (besides the weather,of which there is not control either!) DH is seen <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjK7ETbXZxiSq2vxERGAwOexp-A7mwDZ3QJpMvJaAdKTDxv4FSODNw8oNQLJf4rhzEh_yvWT2cgxjg7J_B4MvqyMLpa7yK67AzObHs-zmzLnJ0aEefodnR49fzQpFGyPxx2jF6R/s1600/100_2985.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5486732203620791074" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjK7ETbXZxiSq2vxERGAwOexp-A7mwDZ3QJpMvJaAdKTDxv4FSODNw8oNQLJf4rhzEh_yvWT2cgxjg7J_B4MvqyMLpa7yK67AzObHs-zmzLnJ0aEefodnR49fzQpFGyPxx2jF6R/s320/100_2985.JPG" border="0" /></a>picking the first ripening ones, the birds are right in the trees picking also. Sooo, the later tree ,because it is a smaller tree gets a "cover up" w/heavy paper. This we found works to "save" some of these delicious "Bings"! It presents a real challenge to the "Starling" birds they tug and tug and chirp from dawn to dusk trying to get inside of the papers. Once in a while one will be successful and crawl up the end of a "sleeve" and eat every last cherry on that branch. It is a real challenge !!!! We had enough cherrys to make a couple pies and freeze some!!!! As you can see by the photo, I pitted them one at a time!!!! My quest is for a multipitter!!!!<br /></div><div><br /><br /><br /><div> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioVpnN8j2MDdK68JgAsAlRAgJniZVTzBljuGfZdb3upAaFNRkzhggWi1Pj7kwfaC6JX2JUWdONRIfSXa3iSPw5arwxf8kVoKqclwz4dq7D4O-ikvnLaFrHklM5oQqsPA9zfDAe/s1600/100_2986.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5486732210355134722" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioVpnN8j2MDdK68JgAsAlRAgJniZVTzBljuGfZdb3upAaFNRkzhggWi1Pj7kwfaC6JX2JUWdONRIfSXa3iSPw5arwxf8kVoKqclwz4dq7D4O-ikvnLaFrHklM5oQqsPA9zfDAe/s320/100_2986.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://www.easycounter.com/"></a> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbnFe2vCJ4sCFmwpVdRVtrqksebKwyuUon29vZzX_92L9WmdlMjpQlqITNd8tE6tkcLcMnZmd_SaSJ1A_9vZmZnrikSq249MTLW8oEIpnzzsnj1OfAPfRw6yg2RUD_dnc4rvT3/s1600/100_2995.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5486747423797628946" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbnFe2vCJ4sCFmwpVdRVtrqksebKwyuUon29vZzX_92L9WmdlMjpQlqITNd8tE6tkcLcMnZmd_SaSJ1A_9vZmZnrikSq249MTLW8oEIpnzzsnj1OfAPfRw6yg2RUD_dnc4rvT3/s320/100_2995.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><url place="KUKI&type=F&trooper=1"></div></div></div></div>Fabricfairehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12901857953188043217noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31657651.post-75366820530889199992010-06-05T08:42:00.000-07:002010-06-05T09:01:42.024-07:00Mystery Quilt<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPuCplxyeuKtMYI-W9b7NJxnRVB5wgqOJkgkCqgIjR3nKrVYK4AI2JQ3ApVw2YE2IyxR8ukzktZqlYj_N0MP_UQtLW1Ya4o7liRIYiVsO_PPlkwyq6jtApiaQ9eFvTLm8R1M8_/s1600/100_2965.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5479315803429880482" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPuCplxyeuKtMYI-W9b7NJxnRVB5wgqOJkgkCqgIjR3nKrVYK4AI2JQ3ApVw2YE2IyxR8ukzktZqlYj_N0MP_UQtLW1Ya4o7liRIYiVsO_PPlkwyq6jtApiaQ9eFvTLm8R1M8_/s320/100_2965.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div>I am participating in a Mystery Quilt adventure presented by a small quilt guild that I belong to called "Konocti Quilters" ! I have never made a mystery quilt before, actually anything I make is a "mystery" before it is finished!!! We were giving ONE clue a month.(arrg)..first choose the fabrics!!! I dashed down to our local fabric "den" and found the colors that I had in mind, according to the directions!!! When I saw this line of fabrics it "hollered" out to me immediately! I wanted the border to be as special as the blocks, without a lot of piecing. I "fussy cut" the chosen border fabric and it paid off . Then mitered the corners. I was honored at the last guild meeting when those of us that had finished our tops show them and then all the members voted (by ballots) which was their favorite and guess what , it was a unanimous vote for my top! Stay tuned for the "rest of the story" when it is really finished! So....I tried it and found it to be "do able". It is on "Sharon Schambler Network" on You Tube. She said that you can cut 30 squares...the photo's show the 27 that I have cut and the remainder of the strip yet to be cut!!! (Did I do something wrong or are my FQ's bigger??LOL) This is just from 2 fat quarter that are strip cut on the 45* angle. This could be addictive!!! I have not yet decided what I will use them for.....!!! It is just fun to learn a new method! Check it out!!! FYI: The are 3 video segments to this method! Oh, yes, this is a older video, so you probably already use this method!!!<br /><url place="KUKI&type=F&trooper=1"></div></div></div>Fabricfairehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12901857953188043217noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31657651.post-28214977371907434312010-05-13T15:23:00.000-07:002010-05-13T15:36:03.054-07:00Wall HangingsI am really working on some wall hangings, these are not finished as they have to be embellished. The "Eat Your Veggies" wall hanging has to be quilted as well,which I am hoping to do myself.....eek! I hope to have them finished in time for our annual quilt show the first weekend in October!!! This one dish of the many she made for us!!! I think it is called "peppermint bark".These boys scouts who came to cut a Christmas Tree, were so proud of their parrott, it was very friendly and even talked to us! When this "retired" fire truck drove in the yard, I just had to take a photo! They drove away with the tree like you see it all the way through town to their home! I call this my own personnel private sewing retreat! He fishes all day, I get the motel room all to myself! No cooking,cleaning,phone calls, just what ever I please to do! I read a great book "Culture of Corruption" by Michelle Malkin and finished it, watch t.v.,snack,take a walk. Well, the weather was not walking weather this year, so I didn't do any walking. Brrrr,most days it was in the high 40's,sunny w/clouds, some breezes. But, I had the heater turned up and was very comfy! So,I sewed on my project of 3 vacation's: a wool table runner. Now, as you can see this isn't rocket science, but, I also take other UFO's and generally switch back and forth in sewing on them. This required just alot of cutting the flowers, even w/a pattern I still couldn't be accurate on some of the petals, however, they are my flowers and they "grew" just the way I like them!!! The flowers are connected to the backing by french knots, and the leaves by a stem stitch. The wavy green wool is "felted"down, this was my first try at hand felting. It was a little slow, but soon I was able to develop a rhythm of "punching" with the 5 needles in their holder. Is it finished you say?? Oh,no, I still have to add the under wool backing and edges! Will I wait until next year you ask?? Mmmm not sure, I am kinda thinking I might get it finished sooner!<a href="http://www.easycounter.com/"><br /></a>Click on photo's for a real close up!</div></div>Fabricfairehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12901857953188043217noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31657651.post-40039902406490993742009-10-08T18:04:00.000-07:002009-10-08T18:33:41.326-07:00Quilt Show Views<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZn2V3lKIk6CmO80C7D9EXALFSYrfp1cRhOY8lBMWN0atj1kWnaBA0seBb0VLGQvAJcR6MqNJHnBDi6TnB91eg0n27JYFULW72k2wwXEEj3jv97452mNXgau9MECXd19L00Jwz/s1600-h/100_2878.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5390403676188013090" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 298px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZn2V3lKIk6CmO80C7D9EXALFSYrfp1cRhOY8lBMWN0atj1kWnaBA0seBb0VLGQvAJcR6MqNJHnBDi6TnB91eg0n27JYFULW72k2wwXEEj3jv97452mNXgau9MECXd19L00Jwz/s320/100_2878.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbdAI9Oty4Htqhe-tSN3DbSeGygOagJxO9LX6QlWOGYFfwQaa2zwb0EYi6zmQvCShg4TUuSyIwJVTgj9kQp5Ssw4vvoFFlKLZpBnfduV9QhZWg1sa7_RV72l5FfYrjzJf5um8W/s1600-h/100_2877.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5390403665441948514" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbdAI9Oty4Htqhe-tSN3DbSeGygOagJxO9LX6QlWOGYFfwQaa2zwb0EYi6zmQvCShg4TUuSyIwJVTgj9kQp5Ssw4vvoFFlKLZpBnfduV9QhZWg1sa7_RV72l5FfYrjzJf5um8W/s320/100_2877.JPG" border="0" /></a> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div>I am showing you some of the interesting exhibits at the Falling Leaves Quilt Show last weekend. I was very pleased to recieve the Blue Ribbon, 1st, for my "Leaves and Geese" jacket and a Red 2nd place for the small tree hanging. I showed them to you on a previous post after the local fair judge didn't consider either of the entrys as worthy of an award. Of course there was different competition at the quilt show. I do take that into consideration. The fair judges do not give comments as to their critic and the quilt show judges dictate to scribes to write a lengthy one. Giving good remarks and if needed suggestions to improve upon. I didn't recieve the latter for either! I didn't enter my Crazy for Circles lap quilt for judging. Just for exhibit. The fringe didn't look very good after I washed it!!! (See other post)<br />So...the quilt show is over and a "new quilting" season begins for the show next year!!! I have no idea what project I will start for next year!<br /><div><a href="http://www.easycounter.com/"><br /></a><br /><br /><url place="KUKI&type=F&trooper=1"><a title="Quilting Gallery" href="http://quiltinggallery.com/"></a></div></div></div>Fabricfairehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12901857953188043217noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31657651.post-285368390148473692009-08-22T14:06:00.001-07:002009-08-22T14:35:52.581-07:00Blackberry Time<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioIImClvN7qyR726yRBxBLoAwZJz1q9D4JVHorfaBiOQGh4MA7mSG-sw1Q7auY3iScp1VSfv89_7CGg5y83NukGdFhVWPpLreG0Ktdfxc3nojN4CaGOs_yB9xa-OAvjOoaI3Vy/s1600-h/100_2808.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5372897889629303730" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioIImClvN7qyR726yRBxBLoAwZJz1q9D4JVHorfaBiOQGh4MA7mSG-sw1Q7auY3iScp1VSfv89_7CGg5y83NukGdFhVWPpLreG0Ktdfxc3nojN4CaGOs_yB9xa-OAvjOoaI3Vy/s320/100_2808.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><div>A while back we picked blackberries that grow profusely on our creeks bank. We were privileged to have our 12 year old grandson during that time as our daughter brought him to stay with us and she spent several days here also then went home to rest and then came back to pick him up and spend the 4Th of July with us. So we had a month of "too much fun"!!! I wanted to share the projects I have finally finished, just in time for the local fair and the Falling Leaves Quilt Show in October. I have not be too productive this year having to recoup from a illness in February. Takes longer than I wanted. The jacket is an adaptation of a commercial pattern. I call this "Leaves and Geese". You can see the "thread play" I did on the leaves if you click on the image. It is a batik fabric and it is lined in a black poly like satin. It was a real challenge. It took me several month of pushing myself to work on it! The "bullseye" quilt is from a skills day at our <a href="http://beta.blogger.com/llqg.org">llqg.org</a>. It "rags" up when washed. The "Crystal Tree" was so fun also to try and rack my "brains" to decorate. I used fairy frost fabric and it really was great! Well the toad is just for fun! He lives in the water barrel w/the two gold fish that never want to be seen!<br /><br /><br /><div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLGKb6TNCGl2AsBCUu5_jo37B3ju_A6eevmr8ySJr6hf7QDKSP3Qan3g8cfKH2mzVJMYZ14qRYpoMQR1at_5_v8Tig33C8HzwmxBo8RoLH9l5Iys0lEbyQO3a-8WbCYBnlb4EB/s1600-h/100_2818.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5372610318689938978" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 258px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLGKb6TNCGl2AsBCUu5_jo37B3ju_A6eevmr8ySJr6hf7QDKSP3Qan3g8cfKH2mzVJMYZ14qRYpoMQR1at_5_v8Tig33C8HzwmxBo8RoLH9l5Iys0lEbyQO3a-8WbCYBnlb4EB/s320/100_2818.JPG" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWgNwAUtdZLxJk5pI5Eu-7IC2UHgpijWjVmDErmO5gRk9ZJ7w0N2hgs2tSzdSxVOUYJjUp0zXOKKQlyDnpWz0Iadv2Ag4Mh7qYFjlns54rySdsFUsNmFy9_7grSUpXtSfAESSo/s1600-h/100_2822.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5372610329293687394" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 257px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 301px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWgNwAUtdZLxJk5pI5Eu-7IC2UHgpijWjVmDErmO5gRk9ZJ7w0N2hgs2tSzdSxVOUYJjUp0zXOKKQlyDnpWz0Iadv2Ag4Mh7qYFjlns54rySdsFUsNmFy9_7grSUpXtSfAESSo/s320/100_2822.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="http://www.easycounter.com/"><br /></a>.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.easycounter.com/FreeCounter3.html">Web Site Hit Counters</a><url place="KUKI&type=F&trooper=1"><a title="Quilting Gallery" href="http://quiltinggallery.com/"><img height="57" alt="Quilting Gallery Logo" src="http://quiltinggallery.com/images/quilting-gallery-150.jpg" width="150" border="0" /></a></div></div></div></div></div>Fabricfairehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12901857953188043217noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31657651.post-82342777835155330622009-06-06T11:00:00.000-07:002009-06-06T11:45:22.628-07:00Fabric,Fabric!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwb4VvnNukV8K_ns-2YSPA9lTIoduOqTh82qzVYfV0ai2ANqkmMD_RcShihBGPME-ZEN9D7ANgELCX9PMc5Fu1UCsKNsfo12r7rqST0M8-Ue4Q4P_gxkFERffBWO_qwVU3oZ1t/s1600-h/100_2754.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5344284508537571314" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 261px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwb4VvnNukV8K_ns-2YSPA9lTIoduOqTh82qzVYfV0ai2ANqkmMD_RcShihBGPME-ZEN9D7ANgELCX9PMc5Fu1UCsKNsfo12r7rqST0M8-Ue4Q4P_gxkFERffBWO_qwVU3oZ1t/s320/100_2754.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://www.easycounter.com/"><br /><div><br /></a></div>I got a nudge from a dear friend as to updating my blog! Time goes so quickly these days. There sometimes are distractions from what I wish I could be attending too! But, isn't life a total distraction!!!! I came across a poem that I know all of us "fabricohlics" can relate to. At her request,I asked and received permission from the author to publish it! This is her blog: <a href="http://thecraftyquilter.blogspot.com/">The Crafty Quilter’s Closet</a><br /><div>(When I read it I get the rhythm of a Dr. Seuss story!) Soon after I read this I dashed to a fabric store that ,sadly, is going to close at the end of June and they are having a unbelievable close out sale! I just needed to add to my stash of Fairyfrost. (No really ;0) ) The one I needed is third from the bottom!<br /><a href="http://beta.blogger.com/quilt-shop-locator/join.asp"></a><br /><a href="http://quiltinggallery.com/2009/05/28/quilt-magic-a-poem/">Quilt Magic, A Poem</a><br />Written by Kristin Hoog,<br />.<br />I wonder, Do you know I am outside of the shop?Taunting and teasing until I must stop.<br />Cautiously at first, I open the door;then I smile, as my gaze drifts over the store.<br />Fabric, and more fabric. Such a pleasant surprise!Do you see the same twinkle in everyones’ eyes?<br />Fabric in bundles, fabric on racks.Fabric on bolts and fabric with tacks.<br />Colors so vibrant in yellows, blues, greens,Polka-dots, stripes and orange jelly beans.<br />I have lots of fabric at home, It is true!But I’m sure I don’t have THIS shade of blue.<br />This fabric is lovely! It will play just the part In the quilt I’ve decided, today I will start.<br />2 yards or 4 yards? Running out would just stink. And you know, you can never have enough pink.<br />And look over there at that fat quarter pack Oh, how did that ever get in my sack?<br />Batiks how they call me, the colors, so extensive,12 dollars per yard. That’s not SO expensive.<br />Look at that rack. That fabric, it’s new?!Hmmm. Do my kids really need shoes?<br />Okay, I’ll stop now.
