I have been posting "happenings" around our farm. I thought I'd include a "not so fun" event. As you can see in the photos a "vet tech" is removing stitches from our Jack Russell Terrior. This 8 year old, 13 pound dog thinks she is a guard around here. When one morning two coyotes came up close to the house and we were in the yard and the dog smelled and saw them before we saw them and took out chasing them! They saw what looked like "lunch" to them and turned around and chased her and she ran as fast as she could but the one coyote caught her and caused her to have 11 stitches (she was very lucky to get away from them)as you can see the stitches being removed after about 10 days. The next day the coyotes made the mistake of coming around again!!! As you can see it ending up"sleeping" in our grassy field. If you are a coyote fan, don't worry we still have many more that visit on a regular basis!!! And of course our dog will still tell them to stay away!! She is tough!!

We have coyotes in town as well. Saw one not too long ago. Let my dog out the other morning before putting my glasses on. She saw movement in the bushes which I presumed to be a neighbor dog. Then I noticed it was black with a white stripe! Luckily it was well ahead of my dog so it never bothered to spray! :)

I'm glad that Skipper dog is okay. What she lacks in size she makes up for in loyalty. :)

They coyotes are a real problem here. They kill the neighbors sheep and killed goats down the road. I worry that they perhaps have even killed one of our cats that came up missing this spring. Sorry to hear that your dog had a tangle with it.

Sorry about your dog and the coyote. It seems we are ever more encroaching on the wild life and forcing them to come out in the open to search and feed more. I live in a Florida park that has overflow canals for rain rain run off (It's considered living on the water, haha). We have a lot of wild life including gators that have to be removed from time to time when they are no longer afraid of humans. This past spring we had to use a live catch trap to capture a family of racoons who had set up house under ours. We transferred them to the country where they will hopefully be happier. I know we are.
